I recently picked up a 99 blaster. I want to register it so I can ride on Pa. state land. My problem is the first 2 Vin characters are illegible. I've checked, an the likely letters should be JY but when I enter those with the remaining 15 characters, no info shows up. I've tried various combos and still nothing comes up......Any help? Suggestions ?

 

Have you tried using a piece of paper and a pencil to see if the helps read the letters and numbers better? Just place the paper over the vin number and use pencil to scribe vin. That's the best way I can tell ya to get those letters.

 

The first 2 characters are actually gouged.

 

May try calling an local Yamaha dealer an let them give you the first few letters of an blaster vin#,IMO all blaster should have the first few letters for an product I.D. from YAMAHA..Good Luck hopes this will help.

 

Thanks for the responses... I actually found the first two characters. J - Japan manufactured and Y for Yamaha. Then after numerous vin query pages , found it was the correct combo and showed a Yamaha Blaster 196cc etc etc. thanks for the responses.

 

what was the 10 digit? thats the year
