dyno jet kit sizes
#12
Thanks for all the help guys, I think I figured it out. The clamp around the muffler and headpipe was loose, therefore it was leaking air. I fixed it and took her for a spin. So far, so good. Supposedly Dyno Jet used HMF's products to make the kits for the Raptor. I don't have the head pipe yet and I am running it with the airbox lid off. I just put 2 screws in the top of the plastic thingy that holds the filter, to the front side of the airbox. And, I'm running a Outerwears from my 250r, it doesn't fit perfect, but it's better than nothing!

Jetting is by no means an exact science. It usually takes a lot of trial and error to hit the correct setup. I also think the jet kits are a big scam. For $85 they are a ripoff. Just pull the stock pilot and main jets out and see what size they are then go to your dealer and pick up some a couple sizes bigger. If those don't work go up another size and so forth. All you need to propely jet your quad is some time, jets, and a basic knowledge of carburetor operation.

oldmanindy, do what the dynojet directions indicate and you should be fine. I believe they design things with the stock filter setup. Remember, you goal should be to match the exhaust to the air intake and jet accordingly. do a search for "Big Gun" and see what others are doing. A friend of mine has a pro-design filter with the lid on and your Big Gun with 150/155 mains and 25 pilots and it runs pretty good.
I am all out of wack right now because I removed my air-box and built my own 2 into 1 filter setup with a buggy filter.
To do your jets
1)remove seat, front plastic, and tank.
2)disconnect choke at carb and throttle cable at carb.
3)loosten carb boots and remove carbs.
4)drain gas from bowls
5)remove needle slides (dont lose springs! when pulling needle out of slide)
6)install new needles and springs
7)remove bowls and replace jets.
8)reinstall and run it. do plug test

JUst My 2 Cents. I recently rejetted my machine. I ended up using a 150/155 main jet combo. I uwent to a 27.5 pilot jet and adjusted The (air screws?) located on the bottom to 1 3/4 turns out. I also lowered the clips to the bottom of the needles. I am running the stock exhaust, and cut out the flap in the intake. My Friend Installed the DJ main jets and needles. He left the pilots stock.Air screw are at two turns out. Our Machines perform the same. I never would have believed I could have gained this much power without a pipe. The only problem is Ive gone form approx 25 miles to a gallon to 17. Good luck.(by the way, Both my friends machine and mine ran like crap until me got the air screws just right. It made a huge difference in the lower mid range.) I think DJ called for 3 turns out, while 2 actually worked better in our case.
