umm guys..i hate to tell you but i have raced a modified 01 Banshee several times on seperate occasions and i have beat him repeately..when i had a STOCK pipe..i beat him by 2 or 3 bike lenghts...if you want to see the banshee you can see it on my site. or click on this link http://www.rossettifilms.com/RAPTOR/pics/18.jpg

I did not beat him by a mile..just a couple of bike lenghts. The next time we go draggin i am going to video tape and post it on my site and show you guys once and for all. A stock Raptor can beat a Banshee. I know. I have DONE it. And yeah the guy is a good rider. My bike now has a white bros pipe and we raced again. same thing. 6 out of 7 times i beat him. You need to start in second gear!!!!

Banshees can't get a holeshot on raptors? I get a huge holeshot with my 400ex when i race my friends raptor. When I race a banshee i am eating rocks the whole way!

Then you friend can't handle his Raptor Cory. The Raptor is in a different league from the 400EX. I definetly know from experience. I had one of the first '99 400EX's and it was a dog compared to my Raptor. No contest.

When I finally raced a piped and jetted Raptor today on my Piped Banshee I took him from start to finish about 2-4 bike lengths 4 times and we both know how to ride.

Have any of you guys considered racing your friend, then... trade bikes and race again. It may very well be that the difference is not set up, but experience of the rider.

Another note, although we assume that all of these bikes are put to together with the same components, some stock setups just seem to be a little faster than others.

Hmmm,

Two of the guys in our pack are racers and have been for 8 years. We have a 00 Banshee with Toomey T5 pipes and jetted with holeshots.

Raptor, stone cold stock.

The banshee tore it up left and right up and down no matter what rider was on it...

We then piped the Raptor with the GYTR pipe kit and they are a lot closer....

The banshee is a great toy, but mods are needed to make it an AWESOME ride...

The Raptor is a great toy and for a thumper it is a great bike...why does everyone have to think this one or that one is faster???

90% of it will depend on the rider and his ability to read the motor...that is the honest bottom line....

Now onto the real question:
I like the banshee in trails because I have the ability to kick it and be in the pipe almost 99% of the time...

the Raptor is a sweet ride with lots of low end torque for trails, but it is too narrow and feels tippy...if you mod the a-arm and rear axle, the raptor is a better trail ride hands down...
