It is too long since I did one, but don't remember a spring clip like CV shafts have. The yokes on both ends of the shaft have to line up, like car prop shafts, but I can't remember what stops it from sliding back out. Suzuki 400KQs don't have room, once the UJ spiders are fitted the shaft can't get out of the spline. The Big Bear may be the same.

Just found out the 2 yokes and u-joint (spider) costs $433. Aftermarket. Won't be doing that for a while. Welfare.

Like I wrote above, it is years since I worked on the 90s Yams. If I remember rightly, you leave the half UJ yokes in the diff and transfer box, and remove the spiders and shaft.

Ok, I'll reinstall the diff yoke, I can't seem to think what goes on the other end, under the gear case, cause its just a spline. but I'll give it a try and let you know.

Checked the parts list on-line and both half yokes are held on their splines by nuts and washers.
