Couple of things as I don't hang out here as much as a Grizzly specific forum. The guys on here are very helpful and knowledgeable but if you do end up needing very specific Grizzly info, grizzly central also has a lot of long time grizzly enthusiasts that would be more than willing to be helpful too.
2007 Grizzly 700 was the only year where EPS was not an option... meaning, every 2007 700 has EPS. 2008 was the year it became an option. Years 2007 and 2008 700s also are prone to the stator burning out if the quad has idled a lot or been ridden at slow speed. There is a fix though that came in 2009 and Yamaha actually covered updating some of the 07/08s. Referred to as a stator oil cooling line, it requires about US $250 in parts if the Grizzly 700 doesn't have the oil cooling line. There are pictures on GC of what to look for.
I did end up with a 2007 700 that didn't have the oil line and my stator did burn out requiring me to replace it. I also bought all of the 09 parts to update mine with the oil cooling line for piece of mind. However, I bought my Grizzly used with 1480 miles and was told it previously was used a lot for plowing... so slow speeds. No other real problems with it since I fixed the stator. I can beat on the machine and it just continually asks for more, they are tough and reliable.

Thank you RedRocket for the much appreciated information...
I guess I will be joining GC as I finally purchased a nice little 2010 Grizzly 700 with 1068 kms on it this afternoon. My partner says it is in really good shape...not been abused..the seller is a very conscientious young family man.. Not a ruffian at all...he made sure we have his phone number..says any problems feel free to call him...but he says he knows for sure I will love the quad..
We have looked at many...Wow....what people try to sell you..and lie like crazy...very happy my partner was with me...he has a 2011 CanAm...but has owned many quads over the years...he has been a God sent for me....
But for repair, advice and just general good information I will be sure to go to GC ...thank you again for that tip as well ..
Everyone on this forum have been excellent with me...I so appreciate everyone ..
Thnx again to all...
Hugs

I think if i had to choose another used quad, it would most likely be a Grizzly 700 with eps. I like the Grizzly because it is a single cylinder. I like power just as much as anyone else but the single cylinder machines make strong low end power. A Grizzly 700 will do 65 mph, that's fast enough for me. And are narrower in the saddle than a v-twin. That makes them more comfortable to ride than a v-twin machine. The thing about a Grizzly 700, you can find an older one with eps. Yamaha was first with eps. Then it became really popular and everyone else had to develop it for their atvs. Polaris was next, then Can-Am, Suzuki, Arctic Cat and Kawasaki and I think Honda was the last one to make it an option. And Yamaha's system seems to be almost bulletproof, you see very few issues with trouble with the eps. To be fair, I think that's indicative of most eps systems on the other quads too. Congrats, I think you will really enjoy the Grizzly 700. You made a great choice. Just over 1000km is barely broken in. 20,000km or more if well maintained is normal with just routine maintenance and obviously not excessive abuse as it seems many of the machines you looked at had experienced. Having a knowledgable person to help you pick out a good machine is a good idea for anyone who might be a little unsure whether a certain machine is worth the asking price. Or at least make you feel more comfortable when looking at them at least.

So much better when you make a purchase like that and you feel very confident about the seller and what they are selling. That Grizzly has not been used much with only 1068 kms. BTW, what color did you end up with?

Congrats! The Grizzly is a great ATV
. Just be sure to check/change fluids, inspect brakes, check wheel/axle bearings, CV boots, front and rear diff lube, air filter, and so on. And then.....enjoy the riding!

Nice choice!! was cheering for the grizzly purchase..lol hey, take some time and watch a few ATV safety videos here on you tube atv safety tips: https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...tv+safety+tips
I'm 63 and have owned allot of Motorcycles and several ATV's over the years. I allow select friends to ride one of ours, when we take them with us to our cabin. NO ONE is allowed to ride one, unless they watch several of the safety videos on YouTube, as linked above. I work for a company which investigates fatality's from accidents, including atvs, & have seen several deaths from atv's.
Enjoy your retirement, as mine is very close too. got a photo to show us your new machine??!!
