Default 2001 yamaha wolverine. HELP

hey all,
im new to this forum and the ATV scene in general. i have a 01 yamaha wolverine and i just finished replacing the starter solenoid because it would do a loud ticking on start up. im going to pick up a battery today. but get this i have no instrument lights when i turn the ignition key but if i jump start the battery the quad starts itself! all i have to do is turn on my jumper and the quad starts turning over. any ideas? and once the quad is running the instrument lights will come on but are dim and flicker

Get a good replacement battery and go from there. That in itself may solve the problem. Weird crap can happen when you jump/boost a weak battery.
