Well I am a die hard Yamaha owner and for the wife I would buy either the 400 Kodiak automatic or a Polaris 400 Magnum. The Kodiak is an excellent machine. The Magnum has a great ride and auto tranny and is one of the better machines built by Polaris.
Regards!

Was that a typo, or did Polaris come up with a new quad that I don't know about? I've never heard of a 400 Magnum.
I agree that the Kodiak would be a good choice though.
You never said if it had to be 2wd or 4wd. If you're considering 4wd then think about the Wolverine. It's sporty, light and fun, and you could use it your self when you wanted to go 4x4ing.
The Rancher would be a good choice as well. It's also light and is available in 2 or 4 wd.
If you don't need utility then the Lokota is an option as well. Sporty little quad with auto clutch.

I would look into the 250ex. Mild engine and shaft drive would last a long time + it looks sporty.
Oh yeah...also, it's auto-shifter like the utility quads.

I recommend the Yamaha Warrior. Bought one for the wife 3 months ago and she loves it. 4 stroke so she doesn't have to keep the RPM's up. electric start (simple) and reverse (lets see her turn a Quad on a trail with out it.) added a rack for the back and she was good to go.Best of all, when she doesn't want to ride. I have a spare ride for my buddies. I don't recommend riding doubles but if you must. the warrior (like the Banshee)has twice the padding on the seat as the Raptor and should support them both rather nicley. One last notable mention. when she's not around i've hopped on it for a change of pace. Handles well on the trails, in the sand pits, and small to medium jumps. Yamaha has some great deals running right now as well. If your thinking 4x4, go with the wolverine (if you can find them).

what i would got for my wife and first off let me say im a cheapskate but i ended up getting her a beartracker cause she didnt know how to use the clutch and i got a good deal on it and i could also use it as a utility vehicle but if she knew how to use a clutch i would have ended up getting her a warrior so she wont fall to behind when im flying down the trails on my raptor

It all depends on what kind of riding you are planing to do.If you want to do a little mud riding then I would suggest a Yamaha Wolverine. If you are going to stay out of the mud the I would suggest the new honda 250x or a Kawasaki Lakota. I own a 01 Raptor and a 99 Shee and I still have a blast everytime I ride my Lakota. All 3 of these machines will be ultra reliable and easy to ride since they all have auto clutches. They all make adequate power, but are not intimidating. I would suggest something with a auto clutch since your son may ride shotgun sometimes. Hope this helps

250EX would be something I would seriously consider if I were you. It has ease of use and yet is sporty. It would also be light and nimble for varied trail conditions. Best wishes in whatever you choose.

As someone mentioned earlier. It depends on what kind of riding you do and how much you want to pay. When we were looking for a quad for my wife these were my factors. #1 Automatic #2 4wd #3 Size # 4 Price. We bought her a brand new Kawi-Prairie 300 4x4. Fully Auto, full time 4x4 but very easy to drive. Brand new it was $5300. She loves it and doesn't have any problems. My 12 and 15 sons ride it without out any problem. It nice to have a spare ATV for my buddies.

Sorry for the misinformation but the post should have read the Polaris 325 magnum. Get a little confused with this machine and the 400 Explorer!
Thanks, "thenewfiebullet" ;-)
