kodiak throttle cable replacement

Default kodiak throttle cable replacement
I have a 1997 kodiak 400. My throttle cable broke.
Do I need to take the 3 screw out of the top of the carb to the cable off the carb?

Or is it just the side plate on the carb?

must be the side plate. Top no good
