How to test older Yamaha Rectifier
All,
I have a 1985 Yamaha moto4 badger 80 that I've had for around 5 years now. It sat unused for a little bit but I'm trying to get it going again.
I picked up a new battery today for it but last night I connected it with jumper cables to the battery in my mower and accidentally crossed the leads. Hit the start button and the starter spun backwards but I also think I smoked the rectifier. It's only putting out about 1 volt while reving it.
I might have access to another rectifier but am wondering how to test it before I buy it. I know on a typical 3 phase set-up you use the diode setting on the your meter and test all the leads. This rectifier only has 2 wires to the stator vs. 3. Is the process the same?
Thanks for any input.
