Default Yamaha Moto 4 350 weak spark

I recently picked up a Yamaha Moto 4 350. The guy I bought it from said it was running great when parked but sat for 4 months and wouldn’t start back up. So far, I have replaced the battery, checked compression (120), and checked for spark. It has spark but it seems to me like it’s pretty weak. I’m going to clean out the tank and carb but I’m thinking the spark is going to be an issue. I sprayed some starting fluid in the carb and it didn’t fire at all.

My question is, what is are some common causes of weak spark. Especially ones that could happen when sitting for an extended period of time.

Also, can anyone tell me the ohm readings?

Damp, usually ignition coil, but exciter or trigger coil too. However, some bikes with the most feeble looking sparks run fine. Never seen a Honda 200 three wheeler with a decent spark, but they still run.

Do what you stated above and try it. put a new plug in and see what that looks like. Id you have a ohm meter get the specs and check out how your stator is.

Is the exciter/trigger coil the same as the pulsar coil?

The exciter coil produces the power for the spark, a trigger coil produces a pulse at the right time to spark, so my guess would be trigger and pulsar will mean the same. Suzuki LT50 is the only bike I know to use one coil for both exciter and trigger.
