Raptorguy you forgot the Blaster and the LT180.
They are both faster than a DS.

In the 1/8 mile it would consistantly run 71mph.

I have one for a 1/4 mile run. Only one cause it seemed to long to hold it wide open :P

Note: I had to add a wheelie bar to achieve 71 in the 1/8 mile. All my times and speeds are on asphalt and out of the groov.

 

I will run either one with my 250R trike, I may not win but I would keep the pressure on, and she will do at least 80 with a the 14 tooth thats on her.

No one here said the Mags were misrepresenting, just sometimes inaccurate and inconsistiant.

4-Wheel ATV listed both the DS and Raptor at 74 M.P.H., pretty close to what we measured using
the tried and true-Velocity=Distance divided by Time formula.

You make statements about not caring about what GPS, Speedometer or Magazines have to say with reguarding Top Speed.

Where did you get your info? was it from the Drag Strip?

I cannot attest to the performance of the Tecate 4 having never seen one Stock or Mod'd, nor a Stock LT-500 I have seen breathed on one's that "cook w/natural gas"(old timer quote, dose not mean they ran on it).

I have seen and raced against RM 500's years ago, and you can't really compare M/X bike to Quad performance,
except to say somthing along the lines of "I know
where the motor originates from, and I doubt it produces XXXX RWHP stock", that is not an unfair statement.

To all the Raptor and DS owners:
I just read that both bikes were under the gun and both went just over 71mph. It is in the May 2001 DirtWheels, and they said the C-dale company claims top speed of 73mph, but is not yet confirmed.

With the Zilla going over 79mph, how can you guys even think that you have the fastest quad?

Klemvore, even with pipes, you are still missing 2mph. The Shee does have the fastest 60ft times of all the bikes. Also, I saw a Shee that races at the local drag strip that runs in the 12's @ 110mph.

 

I've never seen a "stock" LT500 run, then again all the other LT500's I saw were always broke anyway.
At only 250cc the Tecate is the most impressive.

Yeah the Quadzilla is hands down fastest but how fast can it go when it s sitting on a milk crate half of the year. And when it is running...its the fastest top speed but what about handling??..it can't carve the turns that I can..I can outmanuver a quadzilla anytime..in the dunes i aint gonna smoke but i will be right on your as* but get you on the track and lets see who comes out first....

as for the DS650 well..i had a bomadier once actually it was a ROTAX engine in an ATK406. I thought that yeah this is an american bike. yeah its gottto be good...what a piece of sh*t!! The kickstarter fell off every time you went to lkick it not to mention it was on the left side. The bike had so many problems that it eventually blew up..the piston blew up and mannn there was nothing left but the top 2 rings..the center cases were destroyed...sorry Bomadier i will stick to my yamaha fine finsih and attention to detail...i have yet to see any DS650s of them at the track....
