Yep, was riding the dunes Sunday evening and the tranny locked up. Wouldn't even roll in Neutral with the clutch pulled in. You can cycle through the gears and even find neutral but it remains locked.
Dealer is working on it, this machine is brand new and i'm not impressed.

 

Welcome to the jungle, I just got mine back friday it was in the shop six weeks. When mine let go it put me over the bars. It took out everything inside the motor. They have a new gear that is stronger, but the catch is you cant find neutral with the bike running. The dealers here are overrun with them, and dont want to fix em cuz yamaha only gives something like 20 hrs to do it. The parts in my engine would have cost about $4000.00. My quad looks like S#@& they tore up the frame,& oil res. with the motor. Good luck.

 

I feel your pain fella's! I too, just had 2nd gear let go. My warranty ran out about a month ago. I called Yamaha and they said there are no recalls and that it is an isolated problem that they haven't heard much about.

What I propose: Would you guys be willing to e-mail me your vin# for back up with Yamaha as it relates to them saying it is isolated? I too will send you my vin# for the same purpose. This will then allow us to have back up information when calling Yamaha to get them off their butts!

It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to use this as a post topic. We may be able to get other vin#'s (of people w/ Raptor tranny problems) for back-up, what do you guys think?

If i were you guys, i would call Papa Doc and get him to wave a dead chicken over those quads. You guys have some bad MoJo. I have to tell you, this scares the crap out of me. six weeks down time is unacceptable. what do you recommend, to avoid this nightmare? Clutch kit? I'd rather invest now and ride on. Very few owners ride their Raptors as hard as i. Track,Trails, Pits,Quaries,Hill climbs in mud,sand,rock,snow and ice 4 days a week. Rolled it,bent it,warped it But have yet to break it.
