Default Grizzly 550 front wheel problem

Hi,

I have a Grizzly 550 2009 and I changed the 2 front axle CV recently. I changed one at a time. After that, it started slowly to make clunking noise and bumping only on 4wd, 2wd is fine.

I lift the atv today to check the wheels, I ran it in the air, the front wheels turns but I can stop them with my hand while the others are still running, no strong grip. Also when I turn one by hand, the other is not turning.

Wondering what it could be, is it my front differential? What could it be?

Thank you

Lift the front end up, ignition on, put it in 4WD and turn one wheel by hand, the other front wheel should rotate in the opposite direction, if it turns in the same direction or does not spin, you are not in 4WD, either the mechanism in the diff is not going in, or the front prop shaft has failed. You can hear the 4WD mechanism moving when you press the handlebar button when the engine is not running. If the prop shaft splines have failed you can usually see part of the prop shaft going round when you turn the front wheels, though if it is the splines between prop shaft and diff nose, it may not be easy to see, shaft would be stationary but may wobble about a little as you turn the wheel and the shaft jumps a spline, particularly if your machine has diff lock fitted and engaged.
