The Owner's Manual says to use 10W30 oil for temperatures from 0 - 25(I think) degrees C, and 5W30 for temperatures below 0 C. Wouldn't 5W30 work for the whole range? They're both 30 weight oil at higher temperatures...aren't they? My cars use 5W30 all year round. Also, I don't plan on riding when the temps rise above 25C. I want to use the 5W30 all year round. I do minimal riding below 0C so I really don't want to have to change the 10W30 to 5W30 in the winter when I'll only be using the quad a bit when there isn't enough snow for the snowmobile.

I think that 5W30 will work fine.

Depends on how hard you ride. If agressive I would go with a high weight like 20w. If you ride it like a puss the use 5w. Quad engines are not car engines so you cant compare the two. After 50 or so hours I would strongly recommending synthetic oil.

Use heavier oil (20W) even if you do ride like a puss because idling around in 1st and second makes engines hot too, and don't use synthetic as it will cause the clutch to slip. Use a good semi-synthetic blend.
