Default Rear differentials

Is the Yamaha Timberwolf rear end better geared and more durable than Honda fourtrax?

Assuming you mean the Honda 300 I don't know if the ratios are different, or if you consider higher or lower to be "better". The Honda 300 axle was a bad design as a diff bearing also served as the LH wheel bearing. Timberwoolf design slightly better as it had a wheel bearing just outboard of the diff bearing, but owners never seemed to notice it when worn, so strain is transferred onto the diff bearing and axle splines, ending up with worn splines and diff bearings like the Honda. I have seen Honda 300s with a circa 2002 Honda 350 axle fitted, with diff upside down, and one with what I'm fairly sure was a 1980s 250 Honda rear axle fitted, but neither had got the brake sorted out.
