I'm considering putting in a high comp piston, cam, port n polish the head, etc. on my Raptor (in addition to the other mods in the signature line.) My question is how much the stock carbs would be costing me in performance? Would it be necessary to go with a different setup, such as the edelbrock quiksilver whenever they come out, or would the stockers still perform OK?

As far as the carbs go, it all depends on how far or wild your looking to go.

I'm sending my top-end in tomorrow for a 680cc kit, JE high comp piston, high performance cam, head porting and 3 angle valve job. The kit was dyno tested using the stock header and the Gytr silencer @ 63.8 HP. I CAN'T FREAKIN WAIT!!!!

Anyway, as far as an aftermarket carb goes, several companies are working on them. I know of 1 company who has already designed a new intake and is selling an intake and carb kit. It's a single Mikuni 45mm flatside. I was told the intake and carb alone produces a 10hp gain, but it is pretty pricey.

This company also told me if you are looking to get over 70 hp out of the Raptor you will have to use a different carb and intake system.

I asked him about using a pair of fcr carbs, he told me he tried and would prefer to use them, but they will not fit. So they are using the flatside carb.

Hope this helped answer your questions. If I can help further, feel free to e-mail me.

Late,
Swytak

On the carb side Edelbrock is making a QwikSilver carb for the Raptor. All I can say is the difference it made on my DS650 was great. It should due the same for the Raptor you will have too hold on tighter. Throttle response is greatly improved starts very easy and is very easy to adjust.
