I am having some cold start-up smoking problems on my modded Warrior, and have decided to do a tear down to see whats goin on. My engine has been fully modded with the Duncan Racing "National" kit...10.25:1 piston, 38mm Keihin PE carb, Double barrel pipe, .450 lift cam, ported head...the works. I think I may have overheated the motor and scuffed the piston or damaged the rings. I have put an FST oil cooler kit on to try to stop that problem from occuring again. Here's the question: How would an 11:1 piston work with this setup, and are any of you running this kind of compression on your Warriors? I don't have as much low end as I would like with the 10.25:1 piston, and want to improve this. Do you have to run full race gas, or just a mixture? Any hints, tips, or suggestions from you Warrior-gurus would be greatly appreciated!

Dumb question, how far was the cylinder bored? It may not have been enough to make the bore perfectly round again and thereby allowing oil to seep by. It could also be a problem with your valve guides.

A FEW QUICK Q'S DID IT DO THIS AS SOON AS YOU DID THE MODS OR DID IT JUST START HAPPENING? ALSO HOW MUCH HAS THE TEMPATURE CHANGED SINCE YOU HAD THIS DONE? ONE THING TO REMBEMBER WHEN YOU MOD A MOTOR THIS FAR IS THAT YOUR JETTING BECOMES MORE CRITICAL. TUDOR PERFORMANCE BUILT A HIGHLY MODED WARRIOR MOTOR FOR ME FOR MY BROTHER, WE NOW HAVE TO JET THE CARB MORE BECAUSE OF WEATHER AND ALTITUDE. I RECOMMEND RUNNING A LEADED RACE GAS IN YOUR SCOOT BECAUSE THE LEAD IS A LUBRICANT AND WILL PROLONG LIFE. HE USES TURBO BLUE ABOUT 110 OCTANE FROM A PUMP HERE IN TOWN, I RUN VP C-12 IN MY ZILLA'S.YOU CAN DO A MIX IF YOU WANT BUT WE HAVE BETTER LUCK STAYING WITH THE FULL RACE FUEL PLUS I LOVE THE LOOK YOU GET WHEN PEOPLE SMELL THAT VP BURNING. ALSO I HAVE A REALLY TRICK AIR BOX FOR HIS RIDE IT IS ALUMINIUM AND OPEN BUT YOU CAN POUR WATER INTO IT AND IT WILL NEVER TOUCH THE FILTER.
