Well guys a few weeks ago I was somewhat dissapointed at the raptors performance. Hills I would easily climb with my banshee would bog the Raptor down. Also the gap between first and second gear was a major pain in the rear when trail riding, either I was reving the **** out of first or lugging second. I went out and picked up the following

GYT-R Aluminum pipe $175 on Ebay
Dynojet Kit from Rockymountain $50
Pro-Design air filter kit $90 rockymountain
12-tooth countershaft sprocket from Sprocket Specialist $13

These mods really wake the Raptor up and make it much more fun to ride. The Gap between first and second is now not noticeable. The Hills I would bog on before I power right up, and best of all it will pull the front end up effortlessly in 3rd gear on throttle alone!! I'm really happy know. Next week my Full PRM skid plates will be here!!

That kicks A$$ dude! I had a 12 tooth ordered from Dennis Kirk and I just got an email stating that my order has been cancelled because the manufacturer has quit making them. I'll have to check out that Sprocket Specialists, I've heard other people talk about them.

I didn't know the front sprockets were the same, thanks for the info! I did just order one from Sprocket Specialists, though. After seeing some other posts about Dennis Kirk I'm starting to think that "parts are on backorder" business goes on a lot with them.

BansheeBrad, sounds like we'll have the same mods. I'm having some backfiring upon deceleration so I got the 27.5 pilots Big Gun suggests hoping this will help. Will be installing them this weekend. If you got this problem contact me and I'll let you know if it helped. This is also a good time to get some clamps that fit snug in the groove of the boot, the stock ones don't which I believe is the problem with the carbs coming off. The clamp slides foward off the narrow front of the carb. You still have to be carfull not to clamp too tight. I also cut the center out of the uni vents and dropped them in from the top. If you do this, you'll have to put a fine piece of screen on the bottom of the vent cut to go above the clip or you'll suck the filters into the box. (Blow through one that's cut and one that's not and you'll notice a big differance) That happened to me(tells me this thing needs more air!) You'll like the new mods. Throttle responce is awesome! The 12-tooth makes a big differance. It'll sound like a $7000 four-stroke now. (I got the Quiet core just in case my neighbors didn't like the sound of my $7000 four-stroke) Good luck!

Sonic,
I still haven't got to install any of my mods yet, I've been busy rebuilding the banshee so I can sell it. I did get extra 27.5 pilots when I ordered the Dynojet kit just for the backfire problem and because I've read they need it. (I had to order the pilots seperate, not actaully in the kit) I am *hoping* to get to work on the raptor this weekend, but the banshee is taking a lot longer than expected (damn 2 clyinders).
I'm going to install the univents as they are, without modifying anything. I did however order 12 vents incase 6 isn't enough, but I plan on starting with 6.

I wish work wasn't getting in the way of my quads right now <sigh>, but they how would I pay for all the toys????

Later
Brad

Sonic,
Sounds like your having the same problem as me. When get going and have it punched and let off the gas without pulling the clutch in it sputters until it is at or below midrange. I know it needs jetted a little better but the last time I took it to my repair man it took a freakin' month.

Most people say you lose about 5 mph on the top end. So whatever your top speed is (debated amongst everyone), take 5 off.
