For those of you North Texas riders, there are a bunch of us heading to the dunes in Kermit this weekend. Some are heading out Friday, so if you plan on going we may be able to convoy most of the way.

Sounds like fun! Hey, I live in North Texas as well and was wondering about Kermit. Do you have to have paddle tires to ride there? I have a 98 warrior and a honda trx300 that my 11 year old son rides. We have never been to Kermit but it looks like a real good place to ride.

No, a lot of people run stock tires. I have been there several times and have run paddles and had flats 2 times and ended up running stock tires on my Raptor with very little problems. Some times it is easy to bog down and get stuck but you even do that with paddles. One of the guys with us last time ran stock tires on his Raptor. He did say he now has some paddles. Do not let that keep you from going. There are lotss of families with machines running stock tires. If I get mine ready to go this weekend, I may have to run stock tires. They friend I borrow from will be using his.

Like Raptorrider2001 said, paddles aren't an absolutely necessity, but are nice to have.

I was out there with RaptorRRC and Raptor2001 during Easter and ran my stock tires. They worked just fine. In the early morning there were a lot of moisture in the sand so the stock tires hooked up pretty good. It was afternoon when the sun dried up the sand that I got stuck a few times. But then again, some of the guys with paddles got stuck as well, just not as often. I also managed to win a few drag races with them, provided I was properly handicaped with a few bike's length :-)

ScoobyDFW,

I can't be alone in wondering how much you have tied up in that DS? How about giving us all a scare!
