I have my Grizzly back from the Police after someone failed in an attempt at steeling it. I checked and a new ignition is $40 and they won't stop anyone so I want to hide a hidden ignition switch elsewhere. What I'm not sure of is that the ignition has 4 wires going to it, but it looks as though the two grounds don't get used. Is this right? Do the black wires serve a purpose?

Thanks.

Maybe you could just splice a hidden switch into the main power cable off the battery. This'll kill juice to the whole system and will definitely slow the hotwiring process.

I'm not real sure what you mean by two ground wires. There are 4 wires that run to the ignition switch on the handle bar, but one is for the key, one is for the oil temp light, one is for the 4WD indicator light, and I belive the forth one is for the dash lights when the lights are on. If I were going to stop some idiot from stealing my quad, I would just pull the ignition fuse. Its under the seat on the right side of the battery. Most fools wouldn't think to check that if they couldn't hot wire it. Its easy to remove, easy to replace, and most would be thieves probably don't carry a spare 25 amp fuse with them.
