Advice & torque spec for upper steering shaft mount
#1
If you have a Raptor service manual, would you mind providing the torque spec on the two bolts that hold the upper steering shaft in place?
This is one area that I failed to take care of due to my Yamaha dealership. I asked them if I needed to grease the steering bushings when I got it since Yamaha is notorious for not greasing the steering on their dirt bikes. Was told that it is not an issue for the quads. Well, I think it is. I have play in the upper bushing that holds the steering shaft to the frame. It isn't that bad but it didn't used to be there at all. Turns out that the bushing is two pieces of plastic with two small rubber seals on each end. Not sure why the seals are there since there wasn't any type of lubrication. I guess they were supposed to keep dirt/water from getting between the plastic bushing and the steel steering shaft. It didn't work.
I hate to buy replacement bushings from Yamaha since this is going to be a recurring problem. Anyone know if an aftermarket company has a fix for this?
Thanks,
