I would have to agree w/ brokemybanshee. Just ride.... if you do mostly trail riding where top speed doesn't really come into play, then I wouldn't think that power wise you would be that far behind, and with allot of practice and taking advantage of any little mistake the 400EX would make, I would think that you could hang w/o a problem. When it comes to riding in the woods, I think it is 70% rider, 25% bike, and 5% luck.

If you want to keep up with him in the long straight aways, put a pipe and go up in your gearing. I'd say that a 14/38 would be nice. I own a warrior and my cousin owns a 400EX. In the woods i can hang with him, but i've been riding for a long time, but when we get to a straight, I have no chance. He doesn't SMOKE me, but he does go faster. My quad is bored over the same amount as yours. My one cuz added an extra tooth to his front sprocket on his warrior and he can barely keep up to my cuz on the 400EX. If you go down two teeth on back and go up one on front, and add a pipe, you should be side by side on the straights. That's just what i think. I could be wrong though. Just my thoughts

Did you get a different cam when you did the upgrades to the motor? Also, with those mods you should not have any trouble running a 15t c/s sprocket unless you are doing very steep hill climbs. The two teeth larger on the c/s will help alot.

mxer,
I was just wondering the same thing...however, I don't know much about boring so I kept my mouth shut. What is the formula to figure that out anyway? Later.

To keep up and even be faster, put in a cam, bigger carb, and an exhaust. run it with no airbox, K&N Filter w/ outerwear. You will notice a considerable difference. The way I have mine, I beat 400ex's and 416's in MX races, but I think that has alot more to do with the rider, not so much the bike.

warrior3443, I know exactly how you feel, all my friends have banshees and I have a mojave. When we first started riding one of my friends always gave me crap cause my mojave wasn't as fast as his banshee. I rode alot and practiced. Now in the woods he's always trying to keep up and on hill climbs he sits at the bottom and watches....He doesn't give me crap anymore, now he says I have the advantage because a 4 stroke has more torque. I have to say "its how you ride not what you ride". I cant really help on engine advice but agree with the need to purchase a pipe, rejet and regear, and cams are always a big plus! Good luck

<< Sorry to bust ur bubble but a warror bored .020 is not 20cc more. Its .020 mm over if i am correct. Sinc e warrior is aobut a 348 stock, now u have a 351 warrior.

.20 over is .5mm not .020mm.
Stock Bore 83mm X stroke 64.5mm = 348.97cc
.20 over would be
Bore 83.5mm x stroke 64.5mm = 353.19cc
So .20 over on a warrior gives you 4.22cc, not an overly impressive number. However if you can get more compression out of a new piston, and new rings would also have more compession, it might make a noticeable difference, but it wouldn't be from the larger piston, it'd be from the higher compression.
Note: More compression requires higher octane fuel, I wouldn't go over about 9.5 or 10:1, if you do your into expensive race gas!
