First off my friend has a banshee with new shocks and a-arms and axel. And yes i have rode it lots of times. And yes it sucks at turning is a waste of money. How many banshee's do you see winning races? I wanna know and i would race you and destroy you with my little 400ex. I could turn circles around you. O yea your banshee cant make a circle it can't turn the tight.

2001banshee rider- how long have you been riding? From what your saying i can tell that you have no experience with quads. If you really did ride you would know that the handling of a quad is the most important thing on a quad. You can have all the power in the world but who long can you go straight? Do you ride in a area where you need not to make turns?

One quad that should be included is the Polaris Sport/Scrambler 400.
I know what some of you unenlightened guys are thinking... A what?!
But really. My brother's 2WD 400L was $4200. An HPD 65hp kit for the 400L is only like $1400. You are still a way from $8000.
The 400L is in my opinion the best engine to mod currently being made. I mean $1400 and you get 65 HP. They even make 72HP motors if you want to run race fuel. Look at the results for dirt drags. The top finshers are almost always Banshee's & Sports/Scramblers. And not always in that order !
Just thought I'd throw that in....

It wouldn't matter if you did do a shootout with mods. ALL the quads would be much closer than stock and would be very hard to pic an overall winner, because you would be fixing the short comings the quads have. I can read the qoute already, "after a day of nose-to-nose hard riding, this one's to close to call." Then dirtwheels would open their mag and see that full page Raptor ad and the test would end "there's no doudt the Raptor is light years ahead of the
other quads, by far the best high-performance quad you can buy." They love the Raptor and until a stock quad that's as fast as a cr500, handles like a 250r and has reverse comes out and blows it away, it will always win THEIR shootouts.

Hey ex4life. That's a tough call. Raptor vs. DS. How big are you?
and what kind of riding do you do? Plan on spending some bucks to get either dialed in. If you are big, over 6', over 200 lbs, you will like the DS better.
If you race MX, or ride in woods, you'll like the Raptor better. The Raptor jumps and wheelies better, the DS likes to go fast, especially fire roads, sandwashes. The Raptor is no slouch at anything, but feels small, even cheap compared to the mighty DS. Both need a lower gear for trail riding, they could both use a six-speed tranny. The DS needs reverse more than the Raptor because it is heavier and harder to turn around.
A full blown Raptor with A-arms and shocks would be a different matter. It might stack up pretty good against the DS, but I haven't seen or ridden one yet.
My son does not like my DS. He thinks it is too tall, too heavy and too hard to "muscle around". He is 5' and 85 lbs. He handles the Raptor great.
I now prefer the DS, but the Raptor is a great machine too. Make sure you put an axle on the Raptor if that's what you get, and Upper A-arms and front shocks on the DS, if that's what you get. Have fun either way.
