I heard this from a tec. at a dealer in this area that had just gone to a class on the Raptor, ( I was personaly on the phone with the tec.) He said they wouldnt do the fix without proper cause, I had already had mine done is why i was calling him because i had heard rumers of a new gear and wondered if my dealer had put the new gear in, after talking with this tec I called back my dealer and they had no idea of what i was talking about with the difrent gear!!! After they called Yamaha and called me back to say yes there was a new gear and it was the same part number, They will however do the new carb boots and set the idle circut under warenty if you ask and say you have had a problem. I'm not sure of the cost but I think it was around 1,000$ to do the transmision, let me find my recipt first to be sure thou and ill post cost.

Thanks for the info 2stoke... thats great to hear!!!

if anyone else can confirm this... (not deny what you say 2stroke, just like to hear multi sources!!)

At least I can breath a little easier knowing I'm 11000 past the defect (or so I hope)

Man, I hope that 6000 is the magic number. I bought mine in late February, and have number 12059. Like BansheeBrad said, if anyone else can confirm this, I too would be sleeping better at night.

2Stroke,

How are ya? Haven't seen ya around on the forum lately.

Anyway, regarding the cost to do a 2nd gear change is 12 hours shop labor. This I know from experience, 2 weeks ago! So, it should be around $700.- bucks labor, plus parts and I'm unsure the price just on 2nd gear. Unfortunately, I had to have the shift drum, 2nd gear, 4th gear and the toothed washer replaced.

Later,
Swytak

Blue,
I don't have the numbers right in front of me, but I know I'm like 2495, twenty four hundred something.

Hope to have helped.

Thanks,

Just wanted to see if you fall under the magic 6000, and it looks like you do.

2strokeDiehard,

I wonder if they'll do the gear swap if you are just having rough shifting with the tranny? Mine does that on and off and just the other day my started started dragger or at least seemed like it barely wanted to turn if over, kind of hesitantly.

There's no chance of me having an updated gear. I'm on the order of 0746 or close to there.
