I was wondering how well a stock banshee handles jumping, i have heard that they are very front heavy, is there anyway that this can be compensated for?....i am considering a banshee but i like to do alot of mx track riding, just for fun.

Stock banshees are a bit front heavy, but you can fix it with aftermarket pipes( the stock pipes are like 15lbs, while the aftermarket ones are like 5lbs) that will help alot! they jump higher and farther than a 400ex and raptor, but dont land as well as them.

Riding my Banshee back to back with my 250R makes the difference very clear. Yes the Banshee is heavier in the front. It just requires a little different technique. I have never had a problem on any jump. It seems that I have to set the Banshee up for the landing before I hit the jump with the throttle. On the R, I don't really have to do that as much 'cuz it is easier to position in the air. For me, the Banshee's biggest problem area is when going through the whoops. The suspension and foward weight bias is just terrible for the whoops. Other than that, the 'shee is a great all around quad. I have Paul Turner mid-range pipes on mine. Not the fastest set-up, but very ridable powerband. It seems to be good for most riding situations I have been in.

riders make the difference!!
It's front heavy...why not? Then just give it more gas on take off!! Fourwheelers don't balance themselves on their own...it's the rider's job to move or gas it the way it should be done.
I jumped easily a 40+ feet tabletop (2 dirtbikes jumped as good...both 400EXS (one with aftermarket shocks) were not able to jump half of it). This means to me that they were riding like crap!! Not that I am specially fast or good. There was an equally long double that I didn't have the guts to try...but the shee would have cleared it easily with a more "ballsy" rider. All this in almost stock form (except pipes).

If a quad is nose heavy...then just lean back!!!

That's funny, both of my four wheelers balance just fine on their own. I don't even need a kick stand or anything! It must suck to have an ATV that requires its owner to keep it from tipping over. I can leave mine alone for a whole week or so and they are still ballancing on their wheels.

ridzhard,
I have not had he chance to leave it on its own for a week yet...I can't stop riding it!!

I was talking "in the air balance"...does that make more sense? again

I wouldnt worry about the front being too heavy, replace the pipes, and get different front shocks so the landing is nicer!

well i think i can confidently say that i have hit the biggest jump with my 87 banshee. let me tell you, all i did was give her hell and let her buck! i can't tell you how many times i bottomed out. as for jumping, yeah its gonna be a little harder to jump than a 250, but i never really had much of a problem.
