Standing your Warrior up?
#1
I have a 2001 Warrior and I'm starting to feel at home on it but can not get it to stand up very good. I have Holeshot tires (20*11*9) and a Pro Design intake. How do you stand your Warrior up? Power Wheelie or dump the clutch in second? I may need to just put more lean and jerk into it.

i usually dump it in second... the sweet spot on the warrior is pretty high up, almost at a 90 degree angle(strait up and down) but once you get used to it, it is easy to do. some poeple like to stand on the rear grab-bar and dump the clutch.. i havent tried that yet, but it sounds like it would work pretty good.

I usually pop the clutch in first and then shift gears as I speed up, the sweet spot is almost sraight up so be careful! My nephew has pretty much mastered wheelies and stoppies on the Warrior, you can see some pics at cafe195.dyndns.org look for "Jumping on the Warriors and the Banshee" on the pics page. The site is slow but we are in the process of getting a new server.

I don't know how much you guys weigh? ...But I was able to pull a wheelie on warrior by just hitting the throttle and pulling up. I have not found a sport quad yet...that requires popping the clutch to wheely. (I only weigh 165lbs.)
Anyway...other than that, Yes..the warrior will wheelie very nice.

My friend just bought at 2000 Warrior. It has the stock tires on it, and I have no problem getting it up without dumping the clutch. That is only in first gear though, and first is that great for doing wheelies because you run out of RPM's so fast. I haven't had enought seat time on it to master shifting while in the air. Just keep practicing on it and you'll get it. If you can, practice on grass. You get pretty good traction (if it's dry) and if you make a mistake you shouldn't get hurt. The Warriors "grab bar" on the back will stop it from going over (in most cases). If it starts to go just bail and it should come back down without a scratch. Good luck!

I am 5'11" and weigh 165-170. So far I've been trying to get it up in second gear just a little past half way through the gear by setting far back on the seat and pulling up moderately as I punch it. My brother who has more quad experience than me can get it up in second but he weighs 195lbs. I would like to be able to get it up without dumping the clutch. I plan on putting the Powercore IV FMF pipe and a K&N jet kit on it soon maybe that will help my cause. Thanks for the info.

I have a friend that has a 2000 warrior with a Cobra silencer.. and nothing more. When I wheelie it, I get it rolling in 1st, rev it up.. Pop the clutch and get it up.. It's pretty straight up and down.. Someone mentioned putting their foot on the grab bar.. Try it, but.. If you come down on the grab bar, you better keep your foot on the bar. My foot came off, my knee hit the dirt.. 15 stitches and $800 hospital bill. It hurts! Later!
