It'll come down to tires. And with the extra power the new Grizz has it should turn just about any tire you can put on it like nothin so I vote for the grizz!

I would say the Grizzly would have the advantage. But in the end it comes down to tires.

yeah, i think tires will make the difference, but it will be alot easier to get the yamaha out if it gets stuck.

TILL IT IS KNOCK OFF ITS THRONE,I WOULD HAVE TO VOTE FOR THE SPROTSMAN.BUT I DO THINK THAT THE GRIZ IS HEADED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.REALLY I WOULD WANT TO JUST GET OUT OF THE MUD WHATEVER I WAS OWN.

polaris is a HO, is sucks.......
a arctic cat 400 4x4 would kill a sportsman in the mud with the same tires,
because
AUTOMATICS BLOW,
i ride my friends sportsman all the time, it doesnt have enough initial power, you cant go right up to an obstical, stop, and then get over it easily

Dude I have no idea what you are smoking but I want some.

I have a 99 Sportsman 500 and I ride with a guy who has a arctic cat 400 4x4 He regrets buying that artic cat after riding my Sportsman. I have never seen the power problem you are talking about. We ride at Moab all the time doing rock climbing and in low range going right up to a rock I have never had a problem he on the other hand spinning his 3 of his 4 wheels on his artic cat does have problems.
I think the new Grizzly is going to rock wants reviews come out and if it is as good as it sais on paper than I will sell my sportsman and buy one.

lighter weight, higher revving engine, locking front diff. the sportsmen has to spin its front wheels 20% faster than the rear wheels before the system kicks in and pulls with the front. that means that when the front wheels kick in you are already getting stuck. you get approx. 20% better traction with the grizz front locking diff. the grizz has the polaris beat in just about every aspect. the grizz also puts out 45 horses. that is 7 more then the sportsmen. the only thing that the polaris has on the grizz is probably fuel mileage. unless the grizz has a design flaw, it is gonna beat the sportsman every time everywhere, period.

All I can say is it is about time someone beats the Sportsman its been the King of utility quads since 96 which is to long. Same with the Banshee I am glad to see the Raptor, FX400 and the DS650. This will set the bar higher and this year or next I am sure someone will have something better than the Grizzly. Which means all of us will get to ride better and better quads. I hear Polaris is coming out with a Sportsman 700 around October. Which proves my point. I can't wait to see the comparisons between all the new utility quads the winner will be the one I buy this fall.
