I was just wondering, not trying to get anything started but, I think if powersliding is what you want to do wouldn't it be better to go buy a raptor or a warrior or something...I mean something that is made for that kind of stuff...It just makes sense doesn't it?....

You would not go buy a 5.0 mustang and complain that it wont go through the mud like your Chevy Z71...

There are different classes for a reason....

I just think if you wanna powerslide buy a sport model, if you wanna go in the mud and use on the farm(or whatever) get a utility, and if you cant make up your mind buy a sport utility like a wolverine....

But dont squeeze an apple and try to get orange juice.... it just wont happen....

I hope I havent ruffled any feathers, but this is just totally my opinion, and everybody has one....

Thanks for listening.....Jim

i see where you are coming from, but have to disagree slightly. everyone likes different things about atv'ing, from the hard core mudders to the hard core racers. personally i fall somewhere in the middle. for my riding style and what i find most enjoyable, i want a well rounded bike that i can mud with, yet still jump sand hills, wheelie, POWERSLIDE around corners, and light the back wheels up on command. a pure sport bike would be just too sporty for my riding preferences. a full time four wheel drive fitted with 28" outlaws would be overkill in the mud department for me. if a person wants to buy whatever quad and then powerslide with it, great. thats something the THEY enjoy doing. i own a 2000 grizzly and love it just for the reasons listed above. it may not be the best in every category, but its well rounded and pretty darn good across the board. meaning it allows me to ride the way i want to and have as much fun as i can. by the way, the wolverine may be CALLED a "sport utility" but with selectable two wheel drive (wolverine is full time 4x4) i can out powerslide a wolverine anyday.

Thats true but in a way the Grizzly is an all around kind of 4 wheeler...It just happens to lack in the width department... Where as a previous model may have lacked somewhere else...

I just tell you one thing I love the Grizz and I have two on order as we speak and I am biting my nails to get on one of them....

Most of my riding will be in close quarterd woods...so the narrow stance will not bother me that much..

Whatever the case may be I think it blows the old prarie dog away.....

Yeah Baby!! FKNA!!
I mean hey, Sportsmans powerslide great, ALL DAY LONG.
Take the latest high tech super utility and put TOO DAMN NARROW wheels and tires on it and it just WON"T POWERSLIDE!!
I blame you woods guys, It's ALL YOUR FAULT!! But hey, who wants to powerslide into a tree? eh? The new Grizz is only 43.5" wide. It does not powerslide. I'll let you know how it does with the new WIDE TRACK setup, should be here early next week.
Did you notice? First they said "Ooo! slow down, don't go so fast!" now it's "If you want to powerslide you should get one of those Sport Quad thingamajigs". Yeah, like I bought a 660 to pull a garden cart full of posies around the yard.

It pretty much does depend on what you want to do with it. Some guys have the money to have a sport and a 4x4. Me, I don't. Personally, I just try to find something that will satisfy me in all regards. I do more rock crawling and riding in steep stuff so I need a 4x4, but I also like to throw the *** end around from time to time as well. For my situation, I think a 4x4 that you can switch to 2wd is about right. I don't have that now, but I'm going to have get that 02 Griz. Sure it won't powerslide like some people want it to, but for my purposes, it looks like my best option. Diff lock, and 2wd both, along with IRS that I want mainly to straddle rocks and stuff.

Hey fourlix

I see that you have the almighty grizz...

I was just wondering what kind of speed are you talking about when you powersliding...Are we talking about a full out throttle?

Oh and a question for you?( not trying to be a smart as*) just wanting to know because I have never owned a 4 wheeler(had several dirt bikes many years ago) What 4 wheel drive 4 wheeler actually does powerslide worth a sh_t?

Call me old school but I dont care for any of these different make of 4 wheelers no matter how good they are..... If it is not a yamaha, honda, kawasaki, I just dont care to own or talk about them...
I've seen some of these new make 4 wheelers and they may be powerfull...But they look like my nieces power wheels......

Any way enough of my rambling... I'll just say the botom line is the new 2002 Grizz is in my opinion the coolest quad out.. And yes there are its faults but just think guys how far these quads have come in just a few short years....And the issues with the Grizz seem to be minor so they can be remedied quite easily....And I do see your point, for $7000 the Grizz should be able to float on water.... But I'll take one now!!! In fact I have two of these babies on order...
