Got my Grizzly

If you got an 02 Griz, then you've got the speed thing under control as far as utilities go. Its the fastest utility made if not 2nd to the 650 prairie, and whichever between those is fastest, the difference isn't much.
An R would be a hell of choice for a sport. Matter of fact, its THE choice as far as legend goes. Its a hard ride to find though. If you aren't too picky, there are a lot of good sport quads that you could find used. I know the papers here always have a buttload of sports in the classified ads. I think people buy them, then ride them for a month or two and get bored with it and sell it. Probably because their buddies have utilities for hunting, and a 400ex isn't much of a hunting quad (though some do it).
I think if I was looking for a good used sport quad, I'd try to find a banshee cheap and in good condition for somebody that didn't ride it much, and lost interest. I like the straight line speed of the banshee, and nobody I know rides sport quads, so I wouldn't have to hear all that crap about how much better other quads do on a track or in the woods. Sure others do that better, but I would just want one to go really really fast. A warrior would be cool too, because it has reverse and a 4-stroke that requires less maintenance.

Probably not. I'm trying to think of how many times I had my AC in 2ft. of water, and it probably wasn't very often. More than likely, those were just instances where I was trying to see how deep I could go, rather than places I needed to cross or anything.

I have had mixed reactions in the mud,
I *have* had it in 2 feet of water, On the Natural gas pipeline, Probably played around for an hour. Didn't get a wet belt, till right at the end. Yesterday, I wen't through about 6 inches of water, fast, and it got wet, and sputtered, going through.. I am confused. The belt drive dried pretty fast, and I was off again.

Andy,
dont go so quick to say that these new ATVs are the fastest utility's made. You seemed to leave out the Xplorer 400cc 4x4?I have'nt heard of any drag race results with any of these quads yet.
I have been waiting for the oportunity to drag race EITHER of these 4x4 ATVs but have yet to find one out there in my neck of the woods.Im just about certain with my few mods,I'd beat either of these in a drag race? The time will come someday?

I took mine done a pipeline this weekend and it doesn't like water, but with a couple pieces of mud flap and some dieletric grease on the spark plug and stator wires it is fixed.
I seem to have pleanty of torque even when climbing hills, but when on trails I use low range it gives it all the torque you need and there is still speed to ride trails.
I used a big pair of channel locks to turn the adjusters on my shocks, didn't have to lift the front end off the ground. Now on the rear end I had to take the tires off.
I have jumped mine about 8 feet and the floor boards started pulling away from the fender so I put a piece of alum. angle iron on the bottom of the floor board to give it extra support seems to be working fine so far.

You jumped it a measly 8 feet and it started to fall apart?? Lately I've been rethinking this purchase (Mine will be in sometime in August)...and stick with Honda...seriously thinking of the new 450 ES w/ on/off 4X4. Can't even go through 6" of H2O either?? Man, my Polaris 335 never had any problems like that. Decisions, decisions. I'll still probably wait for the Grizz, but it's not 110% like it used to be.

I don't even think the 400 explorer could beat it. I've ridden a Sportsman 400L and I'm pretty confident the Griz would whip it. A 400scrambler uses the same engine as an explorer, and a 500 scrambler is faster than the 400 scrambler. The 650 outruns the scrambler 500, and the 660 runs right there with the Prairie.
I finally got on it good today, and my god it has some acceleration. Feels like taking off on a true sport quad. I think you would have to add a couple mods to the Explorer to be able to beat the Griz in a drag myself. Of course, you could hop up the explorer to where it would smoke a griz if you wanted to.
Still, if I knew anyone with an Explorer, I would sure go and find out for you. Someday when I get the chance, I'll race that Sp400L and post the results. I dont think he can hang with me though.
