I pulled the spark arrestor first, and the bike seemed super peppy. It would pull the wheels up hard in even 3rd gear. I then drilled large holes all over the air box, and cut the restrictions out of the snorkel. I was attempting to make it faster. The bike now seems a little weak on the bottom end. Does it possibly need rejetted? It's definetly sucking more air. It makes a loud whomp sound from under the seat when you nail it. Can you buy a jet kit for these small mods. I see them for sale for piped, and aftermarket filtered bikes. I plan to do a full exhaust, filter, ket kit, and timing key in a few months. I really don't want to have to buy a jet kit just for these mods, but I also would like to get it running as best as possible as is. Can you just buy individual jets at the dealer? If so, what should I step up to. I'm in Kansas City, MO, and I don't know my elevation. I can probably figure that out though.

Thanks,
Dan

Yes,
You DEFINITELY need to check the jetting after these mods. The dealer sells individual jets. I would probably start with two sizes larger on both main jets, and maybe a size larger pilot jet but I'm not an expert. The most important thing is to check the plug, you are probably running way too lean (dangerous) right now.

good luck,

To find your elevation go to www.topozone.com

You need to rejet! If you don't, you run the risk of burning a hole in your piston. Go up 2 main jet sizes as previously suggested and then do a full throttle plug chop.

Looks like elevation is around 1000 feet in this area. So how do I figure out the proper jetting? Is there a guide somewhere on the net for this? What's the factory jetting?

Thanks for the help!

Sitting on the quad, factory jetting is 140 (left carb) and 145 (right carb). Depending on what kind of hack job you did on the airbox lid, you could probably start with 152.5 and 157.5. If you find it is too rich, try 150/155. If it was too lean with 152.5/157.5 go to 155/160.

So I would buy 150, 152.5, 155, 157.5, and 160 Mikuni small round, main jets.

Remember when you buy the jets to ask for the Mikuni "small rounds". I have seen dealers give Raptor owners the large rounds before.

Hope to have helped.
