TrailTech Speedometer/Computer for Raptor
#1
On Rockymountainatv.com there's a speedometer at $69.99. How do you like it & does it hold-up? Do you have to take off plastics, tire, or anything else for installation? Are you satisfied? Thanks for the info.

I put the TrailTech unit on my Raptor and it worked fine for 60 miles. Then I started jumping it more agressively and it worked on and off. What happened was that I didn't allow enough slack between the end of the sensor and where I started strapping it to the A-arm. Maximum suspension travel pulled the cable out of the Hall effect sensor. I called TrailTech and they Priority shipped me a new cable assembly, and everything is fine now. The new cable assembly has an improved sensor body to make it more damage proof. I would certainly recommend this product to anyone that wants an inexpensive, easy to install speedometer. Install time took me about 1 1/2 hours because I pulled the plastic to route the cable. Just make sure you have a generous cable loop down by the rotor shield. As a footnote, I thought it was easier to mount the display on a Renthal bar than the stocker. The stock bar has a goofy bend sequence.

I've also read that it is extremely important to not let any gas get splashed on the readout unit. There are lots of guys that have them on dirt bikes and I'm sure they get jumped harder than most quads, so it seems like how well it works is up to how well it is installed.
Secondly, there are some who say that quick-setting JB Weld works better to hold the magnet than the supplied epoxy.
In either case, I had some dealings with TrailTech and they had great customer service. They sell directly to the public as well as through Rocky Mountain.

I have had mine for over a year with no problem other than me crashing and breaking the ,ount on the bars. Got the new mount and going good. I have put on over 1500 miles on it with my 400ex. If you get the one from Walmart it is not as good as the one made for bikes and quads. With the one for your quad you don't need the expoy, they give you a bolt with the magnet init for the front rotor.
You will need to measure the front tire on your quad yourself. Like the book said the average size tire is that number. which is close to what you have. The best way is to mark the tire on the side and then roll the quad till that mark is in the same location. Measure that distanct and put it in. Each tire will be just a little bit different. Just like when you go to by clothes. Are size L shirts all the same?
Make sure that you buy the ATV one not the one from Walmart that is made for byclices, because that is the one that will not hold up very well.
