I am going to trade my 00' trailblazer for a 96 banshee. It has a new piston. Is there anything wrong with a 96 banshee, like did they screw anything up on the 96's?

Don't you get tired of posting to your own posts? I have a banshee and a 2000 tblazer. judging by most of the 96 banshees i've seen, they are about due for 3000 in fix ups. I wouldn't do it.

Do you mean most of the 96's youve seen are pieces of trash? Or the 96 model all together. Cause this banshee doesnt have a scratch on it.

It wouldn't matter if it was an 87, if its in good condition, its in good condition. No Banshee year had any outstanding problems.

I guess it depends on what kind of riding you do. I primarily do dunes riding, and if you've ever been to the dunes, look around you, what is the dominating ride......yep, it's a Banshee. Junk the 1/2 breed snowmobile and step up.....

Nothing is wrong with the 96 Banshee, it is the same bike as every other year Banshee. Only one major change was done and that was going from j-arms to a-arms. Don't forget all of the aftermarket options out there for a shee. You would be foolish not to get it.

I'd make sure it was a complete rebuild. Not a project where he blew up a piston and put a replacement in to get it running.Nothing worse than fixing someone else's stupid mistake when you want to ride. But other than that the shee is a great quad.I love mine.

I agree with rusty...make sure you know what you're getting. at least the polaris is new. When I looked for banshees i found some that were only a couple years old and they were trashed!. Whether you get a 91 on an 01 they are the same... but starting from scratch rebuiling a grenaded engine isn't worth it. why don't you just ask the guy how much he wants for it and pay him. and ask yourself...why would the guy make the step down to much less power and an automatic from a banshee? you gotta wonder. i don't know what the resale value is on your tblazer where you are but they are worth between 2000 and 2800 here in illinois. a banshee in fair condition is worth that much in parts. if all you need is a couple thousand to buy the thing outright then borrow the money from someone. if it blows up at least you've got your tblazer and you can sell the parts to get most of your money back or fix it to be the white knuckle ride it is meant to be.
even if you have to take it to a mechanic and spend a few bucks to get it checked out before you trade you'll be money ahead.
