Hello,
Was thinking of getting a FMF Racing Hi-Flo Header and a FMF Power Core Four "Q" for my Raptor. Noise is an issue here. Alot of the places I ride are close to people's homes, and if I go riding at night, I don't want to wake the neighbors :-). Anybody have any experience with this setup or another setup that is fairly quite? How loud are the GYT-R pipes?

I'm in the same position. Silver Lake Sand Dunes here in MI have already announced sound checks for 2002, with 94 dB being the limit. I thought I read somewhere that one of the magazines was going to do a shootout like they did for the 400ex a couple of monthes ago. I've heard that both GYT-r pipes are louder than stock.

I've got the FMF set up. Power Bomb headers and all. it is considerably louder than stock. But not louder than any other after market pipes that i've run across. C1, Big GUN, White Brothers,DG.

The FMF Pipe I'm talking about is supposed to keep the sound at about 93 db (Power Core Four "Q&quot. It's on FMF Racing's web site. I'm just curious if anyone can say that this pipe is much of a gain over the stock pipe?

I put a White Bros. E-Series on and for a slip on it made a big difference in throttle response. Much crisper. As far as over all power, tough to tell, I'm not going to profess that I fly with this machine, but if you have one you know they've got serious power, but its much crisper and more responsive now on mine. As far as noise, it sounds great and it doesn't seem to have the loud annoying bellow of other pipes. My brothers 250x with a Supertrap is louder and so is my girlfriends 250x with a Cobra Megaphone, much louder than mine. As you would say neighbor annoying loud. Hope it helps.

Trinity Racing is near completion of a new pipe with a real free flow silencer. Instead of making noise, Trinity's pipe is said to just make power. I am waiting to see.

Excuse me but did somebody say Silver Lake set a noise max level for pipes?
Uh, somebody care to elaborate on why they are setting this as a rule?
Is it because there are homes close by are something?

I was thinking of making a trip to the dunes some time this year, because I have never made it to Silver Lake, but from what I here about them getting more stricked with the one way riding and now decibel limitations, I think I will be heading back to Utah to Little Sahara or maybe even Oklahoma. Whats next Silver Lake, curfews? no camp fires? must use betty crocker cooking tools? Why are these places getting so stricked with these rediculous rules?

As I understand it, there has always been always a noise requirement rule/law of 94dB on all state land in MI. However, for the 2002 season the noise limit at the Dunes will be enforced. How they are going to do it, or where they are going to do it, I haven't heard. I just want to be ready. As far as getting stricter about the one way zones, how can they? It absolutely is not allowed, and we vigorously turn in violaters. The one way zones are only used where the sightlines are non-existant. It's kind of cool to be able to run the south bound zone getting air off every crest without worrying about some redneck in a recycled dune buggy coming the other way. We're thankful to have the area to ride to begin with.
