I've been looking in to buying a new quad lately and have pretty much considered all of my options. Originally I was looking at an LT250 or a 400EX. I think I would prefer a 4 stroke because my wife will be riding as well and after watching her bog around in my Mustang I dont think she'd be a very good candidate for a 2 stroke.

I like the fact that the Raptor has reverse. My Mojave has it and I use quite often, handy. I also like the fact that its liquid cooled as I live in a very hot climate. I see all kinds of 400EX owners asking "what can I do to make my quad beat a Raptor," with question like that the Raptors steeper price tag doesnt seem so bad.

Whats the deal with the carbs blowing off? Is there an easy fix for this? Very sandy out here where I live and if my carbs blew off it would suck up some sand very easily, seriously bad JU-JU!

I also filed a bankruptcy about 2 years ago, how hard is it to get financed for a quad?

All you have to do to fix the carb boot problem is go to the hardware store and buy a set of REAL hose clamps. Problem solved that easy. If your going to get one might as well wait for an 02'.

Do it. As you are aware, there a handful of problems with the Raptor. But if you notice they are all minor that can be fixed easily. None are terminal (includ. carb boot).

Just got back from a full day riding and can't get the smile off my face from that awesome motor.....plus 250R/400ex level handling and suspension. You won't regret it.

I ride mostly in the dunes as well and I have never had my carbs blow off. If you decide to get a raptor I have a blue one for sale you might consider. I have added a Durablue +5 axle, Pro Design filter system, Renthal bars, DMC alien exhaust, 3+2 Douglas .190 front wheels and a silver hood. I would sell it for $6200 without the DMC pipe and $6600 with. I live in Utah so maybe we can work something out on delivery if your interested. Thanks

The purchase is still a couple of months off I think, I just put the 5th tranny in my Mustang in the last 3 years and they are starting to add up! Thanks for the offer though.

i would urge against financing because they kill you with the APR. A quad that costs 6000 would end up close to, if not more than 10,000, if you decide to finance it.

Well, unless I start whoring myself out on the street corner I'm going to have to finance it. I'm well aware of the interest charges on them. Typical seems to be 8-10% right now which isnt to bad.
