What's the worst wreck you've had?
#21
I've never been a serious wreck but I saw my freind get nearly killed. We were at the local riding area climbing some hills. Well he was climbing some hills on his 350 X that he bet i could not make it up on my Recon. When I told him I probably couldn't he told me to let him try. I agreed and warned him that the tires were like slicks and the brakes were not that great and to use the gears to brake. Well he tried a hill and when he saw he could not make it turned around and came down. He tried again with more speed and still did not make it but this time he did not have enough momentum to turn around and he stopped. Well of course he did forgot about the brakes and tires and my warnings and started coating backwards down the hill. He was going at speeds uncontrolable and turned sideways and hit a rock. The quad rolled about 4 times and my friend countless times with the quad on top of him. They both landed in a big pile of rocks at the bottom and when I got over there he was blacked out. When he came to he did not know where he was and he had gashes all over. His helmet looked like it had been dropped from an airplane and was cracked. He had I think 82 stitches and a few staples. But the quad only needed a new throttle, levers and handlebars.

The worst wreck (and most painful) was about 15 years ago while riding a 3-wheeler. I had someone riding on the back and we were just going through this field at about 30mph. There was nothing tricky about this field and we were just going in a straight line. The front tire hit a small dip in the field (and I do mean small). Anyway, this caused the 3-wheeler to flip forward and the very first thing to come into contact with the ground was my head while this 3-wheeler was slamming down on top of me. As my neck started to bend, fear ran through me that it was about to break. Luckily it didn't, but I DID break 3 ribs. Talking about extreme pain. For the next several weeks it hurt just to breathe. Before I took each breath, I had to prepare myself for the excrusiating pain.

FKNA, if you dont mind me asking, did you get any sleep?
anyway...
i thought i got it bad,......
at the pits i flipped the quad at, my friend told me a story,
he was there with his dad on his sp500, and they parked in front of this sick jump that even dirbike riders thought was unforgiving,
a dumbass on a honda fourtraz 300 4x4 flys on this jump,
now, this jump it abotu 15 feet high, but the ground it starts on, is about 12 feet lower the the gound the top is on, kinda like a platau,
but the top of the jump is 3 feet off the ground with only flat ground to land on,
the kid flys up this, got about 8 feet of air,
with no helmet, the honda does a nose dive, the kid falls of head first and smashes his face into the ground, the honda hits my freinds sp500 and cracks the rack in the back, and the kids friend drove him home, his face was all messed up and gushing blood,
just remember, dont get brave, and dont do anything stupid
anyway...

Kukerdan....sleep? not really. I went through the entire ordeal without anytime of deadening medication either. If it were to ever happen again, I'd say bring on the pain medication.
Anyway, I'd have to say I'm glad they banned 3-wheelers, they really were unsafe. By the following weekend I had traded the 3-wheeler for a 68 Firebird and never got on a 3-wheeler again.

Another wreck I had was on my little brother's yz 90 dirtbike. Well, I was flying across the frontyard, the GRASS WAS WET(keywords) and as I came to the edge of the yard I applied the rear brake. As a result the dirtbike slid out from under me and I and the dirtbike screeched across the driveway separetely. I smacked the pavement hard and scraped myself bad too. The dirtbike slid all the way across the driveway and I slid halfway. My brothers, who were watching, said sparks were flying. To them it was hilarious.

I already posted about my first and only wreck, but it was a pretty good one, so here it is again.
I was at the local track a couple of weeks ago, and there was this double, see, that kept calling out to me. I could hear it every time I went over it...."try and clear me.....you can dooooo iiiiiittttttt" Well, finally, I couldn't help myself, and the next time around I shifted into 3rd and pinned it....and I hit the face of the first jump...sailed off nicely...and got introduced to the face of the second jump very soon after. I hadn't even planned on meeting the face, actually, but I guess the double had other plans for me that day.
So, needless to say, I hit very hard, jammed my thumb into the throttle, and my beautiful, shiny, polished and pampered, never-been-wrecked 400EX went cartwheeling through the air, while I had an appointment with about 30 feet of dirt track and large chunky gravel.
Good news is, my quad only suffered some scratches and bent handlebars (and I think maybe the steering column - ) so after straightening those I got to ride for another 30 minutes, until the feeling in my body returned, and I realized I should go home. I landed on my shoulder and slid on my back, but my chest protector did it's job and after X-rays and MRI's I found out my shoulder is going to be fine! And the large, very dark horseshoe-shaped bruise (after matching it up, I figured out it was the end of a footpeg) on my thigh is almost gone!
Ooooooo....and also, my husband rolled his Warrior about 10 times down this really steep hill that he shouldn't have tried climbing in the first place (we bought Warriors before we figured out what we really wanted - he has a Raptor now - which he has also flipped!). Fortunately, he felt it coming over and jumped off and scrambled like hell to get out of the way!!!! And since the hill was pretty loose dirt, the Warrior got away with just broken handlebar stuff and clutch lever, lights all bent and stuff.....oh well! We always wear our helmets, and I wear so much body armor it looks like I'm going to a jousting contest every time we ride. RIDE SAFE EVERYONE!!!!

My worst wreck was on a 99Recon me and my friend and two other people were having a paintball war on fourwheelers and we were running away from them on the recon and started to go up a steep hill and in the middle of it it came back and I fell off and tried toget out of the way of the quad and the wheels smashed both of my legs and my foot got caaught in the bumper and pulled my shoe off and then I rolled into briars OUCH that hurt.I came out with two banged up knees and an almost broken ankle.
Then about a week ago I was doing a whellie and came down going fast then turned and I flew off the fourwheeler and I done flips down the rode and the the quad on the other hand rode sideways on two wheels into this huge ditch.I came out with only some cuts and scrapes on that one.

Haven't wrecked my quad since I switched from riding a YZ but did wreck my dirtbike on occasion. The worst was many years ago, I was 13(I'm 28 now) and riding a yz 80 Rode all the time with a friend. I used to get in trouble if I got home after dark and realized too late I better hurry or I'd be late, plus its super cold so I am blazing home(for an 80cc). The final stretch of road going to my house is paved and there is a 90 degree turn that I approached way too fast. At the last moment I realized I wasn't going to make it, locked up the rear brake and laid her down. As I slid off the edge of the road the tires hooked up and shot me along the fence that was next to the road. That was a good thing because the fence was barbed wire and I didn't go through it but I did "Graze" it. I got up thinking it was just a close call but realized my left pant leg was shredded....I am sure you can see where I'm going with this one....HUGE cut in my leg from ankle to knee. Ever seen your entire shin bone and calf muscle? Not a pretty site...I ended up stopping a car by standing in the middle of the road until someone stopped and asked them to drive me home. 220 stitches later I am good as new! Well almost, the barbed wire nicked one of the tendons in my ankle and I have permanently lost about 10% in the range of motion in that ankle. I consider myself very lucky to have been able to walk away, stupidity and barbed wire have combined for far worse than I had to deal with and I learned several valuable lessons.

Hey honda 445EX,
do you play paintball?? It is fun playing on quads but it sucks cause we can't wear a quad helmet and a paintball helmet at the same time so we play extrememly slow speeds on flat ground. If you play what kind of equipment do you use?? I have a JT Proteus Mask and use a Cold Fusion Auto Cocker that is tricked.
