I'm new here and I'd like to say hi to everyone. I don't own an ATV yet, but all of my friends do and i go riding with them quite often on a borrowed quad. I'm not that knowledgable with 2-strokes, but my friend rides a 250R and he is. Do you guys think it is feasible for me to pick up a beat up banshee in need of a rebuild and do it myself? If i get real stuck I've got my friend to help? What kind of prices do you think I'd find on a banshee in need of a top end reuild/possibly bottom end too? Thanks

Hey CPL from NJ,
Where do you ride with your friends. I ride in the meadows by Giant Stadium. Check out wantadpress.com for some prices on used Banshees. This will give you an idea. If you get a quad the best thing to do is buy a Clymer manual for it. That way you know everything about the quad. It will be a good investment. Only around $20. You can do this!

I think it would a better idea to actually get the slightly "beat up" quad to tell you the truth. By tearing it down and rebuilding it you'll learn a ton! As long as you dont mind not being able to ride it a little while go for it! When your done you'll know that its going to be reliable and the work has been done correctly.

I've seen quite a few around $2000, I dont know what price range your shooting for though. Good luck, Aaron.

Ridnwarrior, I'm from Tabernacle. There's a few abandoned roads and sandpits we ride in. nobody really does any tricky stuff, we mostly just cruise and brag about who's atv is the fastest. 250r always wins, except for a tricked out CR250. There's a one mile stretch of dirt road that we always race down.
