I'm looking at buying a Kodiak 4x4 and was hoping that I could get some responses about the On-Command 4x4 system that the Kodiak and Grizz use. I know nothing about it other than it's push-button. I'm really interested in how it actually works, both on the trail and the technical aspects. Is it similar to the Polaris system? Thanks.

Well, it doesn`t work like the polaris. First, as soon as you push the button, it engage the four wheel drive system. It doesn`t have any sensor. Once it`s engaged, the front end is a limited slip differential so it work the same way as the other 4x4.

On a Polaris, you push the 4wd button, but you don't have 4 wheels driving until the rears slip a little. On the griz/new kodiak, you press the button and the 4wd is turn on right then, you don't wait for slippage-then it operates in full-time 4wd with a standard limited slip front diff until you press the button againto turn it off.
Later, Shawn
