banshee reliable?
#1
I am looking into getting a new quad and hope to be getting one soon. I am thinking about getting a 400ex, a 250r, or a banshee. The only drawback from getting a banshee is that they arent reliable, or atleast thats what alot of people have told me. Is that true with a banshee in its stock form? What about a modified one? 250r's are hard to find, and most 400ex's are a little more than I can afford, and the banshee is pretty bad *** from what I have heard. What do you peaple think would be better? I ride at some tracks, gravel pits, river bars, and hopefully in the future I will ride at the sand dunes too.

I bet the people who said a Banshee isn't reliable were riding 400EXs or Warriors or something like that. Banshees are very relaible. They are 2 strokes so that means you need to mix your oil/gas. Do that right and every other thing that you do for any quad and it will last a long time. Think about it, there's few moving parts to break in the motor and the rest of the quad is just like any other except it has less electrical components to go bad. I've never seen a Banshee break down while riding. I've seen other machines break down though and in the dunes where I ride Banshees outnumber all other machines combined. People modify them like crazy and they still are pretty reliable. Get a Banshee and whoop all over your 400ex or 250r riding friends. When you get to the dunes you'll be especially glad you have a Banshee.

Hey bLaStEr1435
I think the banshee is pretty reliable because if they had any major problems don't you think yamaha would have updated them?
Any quad is reliable if taken care of and maintained, quads are like people treat them like you want to be treated.
The only problem that i see with them is the air box setup which was changed for 2002.
Hundreds of other
Banshee owners can get the air box setup right so I'm pretty sure that any new banshee owners can too just don't rush.
Let them warm up for about 10-15 mins in the morining before riding because rushing them will leave you with a blown motor pretty quickly.

Between me and two of my friends, we have owned 6 Banshee's and NONE OF THEM ever had a problem. They were all mixed with AMS Oil running a little richer than 100:1.
As with any other quad, you will hear some people that have had a lot of problems with them, and they don't consider them very reliable.
Well, everybody has a right to their own opinion, but from what I have seen the Banshee's are very reliable.

Thanks guys. I still have a couple more questions. How does a banshee do on a track? I am starting to ride tracks more and some day would like to race at the local track. Does anyone know how much one costs in canada? I live about 5 minutes away from the canadian border.
