Banshee Jetting
#1
me and my buddy are trying to get the jetting right on his banshee. hes got it bored over .60 with the vito pistons, v-force reeds with reed spacers, and the pro design intake with a k&n filter, and fmf pipes. he is running stock carbs, anyone know about where the pilots and mains should be at?

with the info you gave me i will take a rough guese and say 30pilot, 4th clip on the needle, and 290 to 320 main jets. i forget what the airscrews should be at, i think 1 and 1/2. see if this works and tell me what you have tried and your results and also include your estimate elevation. thanks

It sounds like you are pretty close with the jetting. I am running about the same setup without the V-vorce reeds. I am at 260 mains. I wish I could remember what pilots I ended up with. 30 does ring a bell though. (my box of spare jets is full to the brim)
How about the mixture? What ratio do you run? It may be as simple as changing mixture or even oil. I am close to sea level here in NY. I thought for sure I would need at least a 290 when I jetted last. It ended up not being the case. Which I still find strange. I have friends running the same setup with 290 jets (main) .
How is the bike actually performing for you? I mean without looking at the color of the plugs. Is it burbling or cutting out? or just falling off on the top end? I wish I could see the bike in person. We would get it going strong. That's the only downfall of these forums...we can help you get close..but to see in person would be great.

You didn't note if you were running the air box lid or not? If running the
lid, are there any holes in it or the air box? I run basicly the same set-up as you mentioned, but I don't run an air box lid. I have 310 mains and 1 size bigger pilot jets(25's I believe) with the needle in the stock position. I'm on the west coast running at nere sea level. Hope this helps....

yea man no lid makes a huge improvement. i put on the t5s with the lid on and 280 mains. it wouldnt clean out on the top end and rev up high at all. i was pissed. i tryed 270s, that was alittle better. then i asked tommey racing and they said did i put the vents in the air box properly. you have to put them in the actual box, not the lid or they will not really work. i said screw that and rigged up th box so i could run with no lid. after i took the lid off it runs great. an unbelievable improvement from lid to no lid.
i think that may be your problem. i forgot all about that until rudedog mentioned.
tell us what your outcome is.
