I posted this before and most people belived it was a matter of not shifting up far enough and hard enough. This weekend the quad was hitting neutral alot as i tried to shift into second. The oil has about 4 hours of riding on it and looks and feels good. When this happens I have to let the clutch out and pull it back in then shift. Even when you are setting still on the quad and try to shift from neutral to second I have to double clutch before it goes in gear alot of times. And sometimes after I come to a stop if I've been in 4th or 5th gear and go to down shift it will shift down 1 gear then the shifter feels like it got lost or something and I have to let out on the clutch a little or roll the quad back and forth before it pops into gear and I can continue down shifting. It does not do it every time but enough to cause worry and to make me mad. Does any of this sound normal? The dealer said he has never seen a warrior tranny go bad that it's always the driver. Well I know I'm shifting all the way up but it's not going into GEAR! Please help if you can.

Well my '01 Warrior does have problems shifting when I am completely stopped and I get a false nuetral occasionally, but nothing to frequent. My shifter is extremely touchy though. There are allot of times that I will be riding and accidently knock it up a gear. Fortunately it is never down shifting, just up shifting.

I would imagine there would be some sort of linkage adjustment or something, that could improve your situation, but I really don't know what.

Good luck.

Hello, I just wanted to tell you my friend Tracie's warrior does that too.I can't tell you how mad she was when she took it to the dealer an they told her that was normal .... ,she said"What the hell's normal about a bike poping in an out of gear?" There is something wrong in there I think with the shift forks ,we havent torn it down yet but I'd bet ther is a worn or bent fork,on hers, an maybe your too.Well any way if you find out what's wrong let me know so I can let here know too thanks,Rick{nv}

Mine doesn't pop out of gear but it doesn't like to hit second all the time. I just left the dealer and he rode the quad again and said it felt strong, he also said that shifting barrel has notches on it and if you don't give it time to catch when shifting that it would not go into gear. Who knows? I'm going to continue to ride it and see if it gets any better. If not looks like I will be looking for a 400EX or 02 Raptor.

hey 2001ATV. My 97 shee does this too. I guess it's just clutch wear for mine though.. I have it torn down(still) and while i do, i'm going to change the tranny oil. I think it's just a Yamaha problem.

P.S. Did you go to Fun Wheeler? How was it?

Now that I think about it a little more, mine seems to always hit it's mark when I need it to. The only time it seems to miss or hit false nuetrals is when I am just dinking around and I can honestly say that allot of that is probably my riding, cause I only have probably 50 hours experience.

Who knows... it doesn't bother me much though, and I love my Warrior, so I am going to keep it!

We went out to FWP and it was pretty dry, there was a few spots that had mud on the fire roads but amost aways a way around. It had the best fast paced wood trails I've rode on! Ther was three of us that went and someone with a Raptor showed up but other than that it was all utility quads. I don't think some of the people out there liked us FLYING through the trails but oh well we paid just like they did. Most of the people out there were just putting around drinking. They have a few ponds the 4x4 quads were playing in, and the MX track was small, but the sand drag was nice (to soft for the holeshots to hook up in). I would go back as long as its dry (maybe this weekend).

Yeah, well that's good. Hey dont worry bout all the utes, they will have to get over it. You pay just like they pay. If they don't ride fast, pass them! The MX track is pretty small, not very fun, the sand is also a little too soft for my likings too. Good trails though!

This sounds normal to me. My Blaster occasionally shifts to neutral instead of 2nd. I've found that changing the tranny oil helps to get rid of this but I dunno why. Probably somethin to do with the clutch. Cuz whenever my fluid gets old, my clutch starts dragging, I kick it in gear with it pulled in and it moves, and sometimes when its idling with it pulled in i pop it into gear and it suddenly jolts and stalls. So just try changin the fluid. And when you stop after 4th or 5th and have to monkey the throttle and clutch to get it down, happens all the time. Rarely does it never happen.
