Raptor Extended A-arms & stock shocks
#1
I should get getting my +2+1 TimmyBoy A-Arms here this coming week, but one question comes to mind... Will the stock shocks do ok with the extended a-arms? I figure I might have to get aftermarket. Was thinking about getting a set of works shocks (would get elka, but I think they are ugly as heck on a blue raptor).

Yes, your stock shocks will work. But, you won't be able to sky it out, without bottoming. I recommend going ahead and getting the Works. I had mine valved for stock arms, and now I'm having them revalved for +2's. People will argue up and down with you about getting different shocks, but I love my Works. They're great shocks, and come without the "great" price.

Personal experience and 1 concussion ago, I found out the +3" with stock shocks is not a good idea. Yes I crashed hard when the bike nosedived hard into a turn and started the tumble tumble tumbl tumble. I think it was 4, but I was knocked out so not sure. GET SHOCKS AND DON'T RISK BEING A STATISTIC LIKE ME.
LOL
Seriously though, if I had to do it over again I would have spent the cash all at once. I really do believe that's what led to my crash.

Thnx for the info guys. I really don't go much jumping here, just mostly trail riding/hill climbing. Think I might save up and get me some works shocks setup for +2 a-arms.
TitanRacing - The reason I'm replacing my a-arms is because my upper right stock a-arm is bent. The upper a-arms on the raptor are made of a lightweight aluminium, and they're not very strong. If you do alot of heavy riding I'd suggest getting aftermarket a-arms.

iceman-
ive gotta tell you, from experience, the elka shocks are 10 times the shock the works are. i have ahad works shocks on my 400ex for 3 years and i have had works shocks on my raptor and then switched to the elkas. they are much smoother, stronger built, easier to adjust, better heat displacement, the list could go on and on. dont get me wrong, works shocks are 10 times better than stock, but if your going to spend the time and money to get aftermarket shocks, you may as well get the best! plus, dont be such a girl....who cares if it doesnt match perfectly...it all looks the same when its covered im mud!
