I'm looking at buying a new Grizzly. My neighbor had a 98 and said it roasted his legs. Have there been any improvements in this area or does it still cook?

I have a 00'Grizzly and it does not burn or even heat my legs.In 99'they put heat shields on the Grizz and some mechanical changes that made it lighter and better.

I have the 1999 Grizzly and I heard the negative rumors about the 1998 Grizzly heat shield problem. One day while riding I met up with someone on a 1998 Grizzly, and saw what people were complaining about, there's a vast difference between the shields on the 1998 Grizzly and the ones found one the 1999 and 2000 Grizzlys.

I ride a 98 Grizzly and yep, it sure does seem put out some heat. However, the durn thing just runs fine and I've learned to live with it. Doesn't seem like a big deal. I understand the dealer would put the 99 heat shields on it for free, but I've never bothered to do that.
