I guess you have a hard time comprehending words, I have Just got my 2002
Raptor and there is not much difference in the 2.It has a little stronger axle, little better rear shock, and the gearing is a little closer together.
most riders change all those stock items anyway. The gearing can be changed with different sprockets and tires. So, Like I said there is not much Diffence
betwwen the 2.You can also have the trans updated with 2002 gears so why sell
a 2001 to buy a 2002 unless you love to buy the same thing twice.Kind of dumb if you ask me.But hey to each his own.

Hey sneves, Is upadating the trans gears to 2002 gears something the dealer would have to do and do you have an idea of what that would cost?

Thanks
Paul

sneves,
Why then did you get a 2002 model raptor when you had a 2001.Do you have both? You quoted "You can also have the trans updated with 2002 gears so why sell
a 2001 to buy a 2002 unless you love to buy the same thing twice.Kind of dumb if you ask me.But hey to each his own."

Can you at least put the right year down below your name. No most owners don't change all the items mentioned. Chet

Sneves, you make no sense...What was I supposed to think when you have listed at the bottom of your post that you have a 2001 Raptor? If you did succeed in getting a 2002, it appears then that you did exactly what you are condemning others for doing. What gives? Be more specific and tell us EXACTLY what the differences are instead of being so vague. It would appear that you are the only guy that has a 2002. If so, Great! Tell us where you got it, and if they are indeed available everywhere at this time. As a last note here...WHY would I want to spend more money trying to update the trans to 2002 specs when it is costing me less to sell and upgrade to the 2002 entire bike? Yes, to each my own! I don't give a crap about any other difference between the 2, just the trans. You CANNOT change the ill-spaced gaps between gears just by changing the sprockets. Either you gain low end and take away top end, or vise versa. The spacing remains the same. This is nothing more than a band-aid fix. How many guys are realistically gonna rip into their motors to regear the trans? Your assessment of "Dumb" is not a qualified accusation. Peace, man!

I didnt get a chance to post agin.I TOTALED my 2001 raptor racing it .I know a yamaha factory rep. and was offered a 2002 as a replacement.
Yes,it is alot cheaper to up grade the trans gears, then to buy a new one.Unless you owm it out right, you wont get pay off if thats how you bought
your raptor. Also, raptors are going cheap because everyone wants the 2002.The
raptor trans has been geared down with all the gears closer together.I do much more shifting, then i did before.I went to a 14 tooth front sprocket to have a little more top end.Remember, this new trans. is now a 1st year trans and it will have all new problems because its NEW.Last to you 2 tards, You should not jump a person because you dont belive them.If you have connections
it is possiable to get anything before lozzers like YOU.

sneves,
What is different on the design specifications with the rear link and the rear shock. If you had a 2001 and now have a 2002 what is the difference? You should be able to tell us the difference and it has nothing to do with the piggyback shock. Also sneves what is a (tards)? Is that something like a poptart? Hey those smores poptarts are really good. The ever hungry for a smores poptart Chet.

it to you.My time is very limited and I cant spend all evening explaining
yamaha designs to peeons. the axle still sucks too, but i have already put a lonestar on.
