Warrior "THUNK" noise at shutdown
#1
Hi Folks!
I hope you all are well considering the events of the last week. My thoughts, prayers, and best wishes for all.
I have a 95 Warrior that makes a "thunk" noise when you shut it down. It almost sounds like the starter. Normal????????????
Also, I just changed over to synthetic oil and notice a small amount of smoke from exhaust for the first few seconds. Is it because synthetic flows easier and can get past rings/guides. I had a hell of a time getting the upper cylinder bleeder to seal and just figured that the synthetic flowed eaiser. 15-50W Mobil 1.
Thanks in advance!

The noise is pretty much normal for my Warrior, its been doing it for 11 years now with no harm done.
As far as the smoking is concerned, if it happens only at startup then its worn valve stem seals which leak a small amount of oil down into the cylinder after the quad has been shut off and is then burned when first started up. If it smokes all the time then the rings are worn out.
I've been using Mobil 15W50 synthetic for about two years now with no problems.
