If you can find a way to get that up around $2500, you can find an older model Honda 300, Kawasaki 300, or King Quad that would probably do the job ok for you. The King Quad would be the best choice of the bunch for that application on account of its heavier weight and drive options. I would imagine you might find like a 93 model or so for under $3000. As far as spending $1000 on a quad, you are looking at a 1980's model 2wd. Probably a 250 of some sort.
