Grizzly or Kodiak
#2
Most everyone that has had to make this choice to my knowledge picked the Kodiak over the Grizz except for speed. You take time to ride both machines and look at each ones good points and chose which one will make you happy. Me and a friend was going to get 2 Grizzlys and we both own Kodiak now. We both like our choices!

Hello t1602 both machines are nice I have heard the grizzly gets really hot and get so hot it won't start where it is not watercooled some postings to this in this forum also are some info that the grizz has had trouble with the front bearings rusting I think the kodiak would be your best choice as I think it is water cooled the dealer I talked to did tell me that the grizz gets really hot he talked like yamaha was going to try water cooling on the kodiak and if it worked out next year the grizz would have it I considered both these machines but ended up going with the Artic Cat 500 because of the water cooling semi independant rear suspension and disc brakes all the way around have heard a lot of horror stories about the drum brakes on the rear giving trouble when you do a lot of mudding on most of the popular brands good luck in your decision hope this has helped.

I have a 1999 Grizzly and I too would choose the new 2000 Kodiak over the Grizzly. The Grizzly is too big and produces too much heat. Sometimes I have to stop and let it cool down so it will run properly again. The Kodiak has rear discs as well. You'll hate the drums on the Grizzly if you like to ride in the mud and water. If you can tell I have had much grief with the Grizzly. I definitely want to sell it and either wait for the new Honda Rubicon or get a Polaris Magnum or Expedition.

I think it depends on where you ride. Ive heard that the new kodiak is almost as sporty as the wolverine and has some great power and good suspension. My friend has the new big bear and it got a lot of power and about the same sudpension but it really slow. it probely onlt tops around 35-40mph. even though it slow it doesnt mean you can have fun with it. its a great trail machine and has alot of *****.
