I talked to Henry @Atv Locker about getting a Locker 4 my Grizzly.I thought it might be easier to steer in 2wd but he said that 2wd was harder than 4wd because the wheels dont spin the direction you turn.He said the Grizzly was the hardest to turn of any atv.Thats when he said we are currently in the process of manufacturing an "EASY STEER KIT"4 the Grizzly.I asked how long before I could buy one and he said hopefuly within 2 months. So if everything goes well we should all be able to get a Locker 4 are Grizzlys.

Interesting prospect, Jamie!

If the two front wheels are locked together, how can one make the quad, "Easy-Steer?"

Are we talking about changing the steering linkage, providing more leverage when turning the handlebars? Power steering?

Ask your source the principles and techniques used by the "Easy Steer" system next time you talk to him.

Please understand, I'm not dissing the idea or saying, "it can't be done;" instead, I'd be interested in the details of HOW it's done.

I would be extremely interested in this kit.
My locked griz is a beast to turn. The locker
really took the "joy ride" fun out of my
grizzly. I cant sling it around like I used
to. A friend and I put a shim in the steering
and filled the area with white lithium grease
and it seemed to help a little. I think it just loosened the steering {slack}. Cant drive fast on hard pack now, vamps go everywhere but straight.

I spoke to someone this weekend who supposedly spoke to a rep at ATV Locker and found that the differential lock for the Grizzly is still the same as it always has been. The easy steer kit is an addition to the package and works with various pulleys, etc. It was described as being similar to a compound bow. Once you pull back the string (or turn the handlebars) and get to certain point it gets easier to pull (or steer). If you understand how a compound bow works, this analogy should make more sense. The total package including the differential lock is supposed to be $342 and should be available in Jan. 2000. The guy I spoke to plans to buy it as soon as it comes out, so I'll let you know when I get a chance to try it.

Thanks for the update. Keep us posted.
I'm worried it will be one more thing I'll
tear up on the ol' grizzly.
