My brother's Banshee has been stolen. Does anyone have any tips or hints on a good way to go about finding it? He's reported it to the police, but I'm hoping there are other ways to try to get it back. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's a 2000 and he still owes a substancial amount on it. Please reply or send any responses to marcwagner@iwon.com. Thank you.

Even though I have never gotten my quad stolen, I have read of many cases on this website. From all the information I have gathered, the best way to get it back is drive around your neighborhood(scope out the punk kids house that WOULD steal it), post flyers on the telephone poles, infrom your neighbors and community. RaptorRon just got a really nice 250R stolen from him.... I'm sorry for your loss!(or your brothers)

try contacting all local dealers with a description of the quad. If they broke something while stealing it they may try to replace the part. Also, contact any small atv shops. They might try to strip it and sell the parts off.

heh, i know how it feels to get jacked like that. just recently, 3 of our quads were stolen, then there was a long series of meth lab and crack house busts. Our quads were found at a house holding a meth lab, in horrible condition. I would love to put a fat baseball bat into the skulls of the guys who took them. As that guy said, look around the neighborhoods around you, and maybe talk to friendly-looking people who might know of some kids who are up to no good. like me

i would take out a classified ad in the local paper with a brief description and possibly a small reward for info leading to its discovery.

Insure it!

I know it doesn't help you now, but I bet your buddy will have it insured next time. Especially when he owes money on it.

The $100-$200 makes a great peace of mind.

Remember, that if they want it, they will get it.

On an encouraging note, there was a story a while back on this board about a guy who had his quad stolen. He told every neighbour, and the cops. The following night, he kept his window open, and he heard it start up. I guess the guys, stole it from the garage, and pushed it somewhere to hide it. Then they came back to ride it out, and the owner heard it. The owner found them and they were busted. So, it can't hurt to do the legwork, because you may be suprised at how stupid thieves really are.

But, in the future, just insure it, and sleep well.

Sorry to hier that my brother,
From working on bikes I know but I don't know how it's done buttt
Yamaha keeps a data base on stolen bikes and how it works when you buy parts from your dealer the vin# or engine ID# is used and they got them.
Go to your local dealer and ask him.
I only know this because I was working on one and needed parts and you wouldn't believe how a thief knows so little about the bike he stole so to insure the correct part I gave him the vin# and the bike had been stolen seven years ago!
Also some one has to have home owners insurance here!!!!
