First service?
#1
Ok, I bought my raptor about a month or so ago and when I bought it the dealer said that I need to bring it in for the first service (valve adjustment and oil change) to keep the warranty in good standing.
Here is my problem, I hate to have any one work on my machines, I am very mechanical, I used to build street rods professionaly and have about $10,000 in tools. I prefer to do all my own work. I have bought the factory service manual and read it and the valve adjustment seems very easy to do. Do any of you guys know if the warranty would be void if I choose to do it myself.
I have seen their mechanic and I am not too impressed. I also bought my son a quad and they had the rear tirs on backwards. I am not really impressed with their mechanic to say the least.
So what do you guys think.
Thanks
Paul

Bat,
IMO screw them. Do the service yourself. Like you read, there's not too much to adjusting the valves, and tha warranty is only for 5 more months anyway. Same thing with the oil change. I wouldn't dream taking a quad in for "routine" stuff.
Different topic: Nice Truck!! Totally stock or have you done some mods?

I have herad some dealers say that as well, but other dealers say thats crap. I cant see how they can make u do that, and since the MANUFACTURERS warranty is through Yamaha and they make no mention of it, I would also say that thats crap.

Oh, I have done some mods, I had to quit doing mods to the truck, so that I could afford a quad. I am an addict. addicted to speed, when the mods start, it is hard for me to quit.
On the truck, I have a psp 4 way chip, psp air filter setup, bassani exhaust and a bedrug. It is a screamer.
On the raptor, I have on order the big gun exhaust, dynojet kit and k and n filter.
Thanks for the reply, that is kind of how I feel and I don't think they can void the warranty unless they could prove I did something that caused the problem in question. I think it would be hard for them to prove that because I adjusted my own valves the tranny went out. Just an example, I am knocking on wood as I type.
Thank
Paul
