raptor airbox question
#11
i have the pro-design kn with the outerwears cover on filter and the UNI-
vents in the lid i got the 1" uni vents from my yam dealer ($7.50) i also cut the
flaps out of my snorkle. had to rejet to 150-155 mains and 25 pilots.
i would not cut the lid in half if you live where the temp changes in winter
to sub zero and still ride you will want your lid on to keep it from running
lean!!!

I think cutting the lid is what I am going to do, I can buy a new stock replacement lid for around $11. I am going to do this and then I will carry the back part of the lid in my tool box and if needed I can pop it on and clamp it with the stock airbox lid clamps. I am going to try this and see.
I got the big gun on last night and it sounds awesome. I have to install my kandN today and put the bike all back together.
Thanks for the replies

You might want to check out CT Racings webpage, they have an aftermarket airbox system... that way you don't have to destroy your stocker.
If you still want to use your stocker and you are either going to cut part of the lid off or put in the Uni vents, you need to do something about that crankcase breather hose. If you have holes in the airbox lid, even filtered holes, water can still find a way in. K&N actually makes a crankcase breather filter that supposedely stops dirt and water from getting in there. It is worth checking out.
